MoliroMan
great pics Josh!!!! I especially luv the egg spots on the anal fin of the Nkonde!!! Also i can see why u want some more kipili. Where are u keeping her? Is it true the brichardis are more aggressive? Would u mind sharing with us what happened to those dearly departed Ts? I hope the remaining Ts are ok now. Josh
Dave I believe that my own stupidity killed them. I moved them from the house to the shed and they were going great. After a few weeks they seemed to go of their food so I started treating with clout. I thought that I would also treat with a little melafix and I believe that the cominationof the two was too much for them to handle. I had one fish die while spawning the day before I started treatment and ended up losing 9 fish 3 days, before they got put back inside the house. they have gone great since being back inside. I dont know if you seen the photos I put up when they were sick. the fish look like the were all blotchy. that disappeared within a dayof the fish being inside, So I assumed It was a toxin in the water and the most likely thing was the combo of clout and Melafix. I have never really been happy using melafix on tropheus. I have used it beofer but in the tiniest of amounts. the brichardi girl is now living happily with the Nkondes. I used her as a dither for them. i would say they are more aggressive then other tropheus, but i only ever had four. this fish I assimed was a boy because she killed the all but one other fish. I couldnt keep them together. I triedthem in a six foot tanks and tried them in a two foot tank, and also tried all the old trick to stop aggression to no avail. In saying that The Nkonde's totally dominate her.
parrdog
It's really sad that you lost all those beautiful Nkondes mate, I didn't see the mentioned photos either. Great pics mate, here's to good T health from now on . Jamie.
Josh
Heres the pics of the sick fish. The fish in the pics is dead but the fish in the tank looked the same I still have good group of 6 adults and 7 youngsters + 4 fry in the fishroom. They are breeding again which is only good and with a little luck I will build the group up to the 60 odd fish that lived in that tank at one stage Josh

MoliroMan
hey Josh, Sorry to hear of the losses!!! I think u should resist ever moving them again and don't ever use Melafix again. I have stopped using it all together for my Ts. The smell of it makes me sick....imagine swimming in it!!! Anyway, i hope u can build up that colony again soon....maybe u need to get some new blood - some WCs?
TropheusQueen
Josh and I managed to nearly wipe out the Nkonde line in Australia altogether - all the experience in the world does not make us immune Slowly but surely you will build those numbers up again - there is also a feisty, bloat resistant little girl if you need her Josh Dave you needs to get out of the medical field and go into sales mate Timmy - I always recommend duboisi as starter T's - if there is any such thing as you can get away with smaller colonies and relatively less conspecific aggression issues - although they certainly have their moments. Far from my fav T's and there is already a breeder with them here. I dont want to spend to much on them incase they all die and i dont have alot of money I was thinking maybe ikola or ilangi Can people please PM me if they have Troph fry for sale with prices that would be a great start. Thanks guys, you cant just look at these fish without being hooked

Ikola's are a species black and can be crankier than most. Jim had some Illangi for sale - you may want to contact him. It takes alot more than just looking at them to keep them so tread slowly timmy
parrdog
I agree with Aline, do your research (heaps of it by the way) and ask heaps of specific questions. It's easier for people to answer questions when they are specific, general ones are too hard to answer ( this is not referring to you, just a general comment). Tropheus duboisi are arguably more forgiving and cheaper. What I did was that when it was time to get my fish I got the one's that I liked most. This happened to be my Mpulungus. If you really love the duboisis, go for it when the time is right. If you are simply getting them because you think they are easier, I'd get a variant that you really love, otherwise you'll wish you did. Good luck with it, and ask away if you need to , Jamie.
