ViS
It's coming. I've been moving fish around and trying to sort out the heat retention problem, so once I clean up my mess I'll post something up.
ViS
Ok I've done an .avi of the room, but my video converter won't change it to .mpg for some reason. Does anyone know how to easily decrease the file size of an avi video? It's currently 150MB which is obviously too big
ViS
Ok here is a quick, poor quality photobucket video of the room. I'm happy to take specific footage of particular parts if anyone is interested. There are still a couple of tanks to go in yet before it's finished. Bruce
Thanks, I thought it looked like tang tank. What is in the divided tanks that used to house the pleuros? Bruce
ViS
Thanks for the comments The original plan was to have the tanks put on identical stands. Time and money won out though, so it's a bit of a mish-mosh of colours and materials. One thing I'll take a better video of though is the UPS and battery etc. Bruce, that 6 footer now houses the Lab. mbamba in separate colonies

parkap
Hi ViS, A video of the UPS etc, would be great! Did you build a separate sump for each stand of tanks? Did you weld all the tank stands yourself? It really does look great! Anything you'd do differently or better if you started from scratch again? Peter. ViS
Did you build a separate sump for each stand of tanks? There is one sump for each side of the room. Did you weld all the tank stands yourself? The red stand on the right was made by Steve (Medowieman). There are two pallet racking stands (best idea ever), a second hand black 3 tier rack (that will be salt water shortly) and the wooden fry rack that I made myself. Anything you'd do differently or better if you started from scratch again? If I was starting from scratch, I'd do every stand as pallet racking, and put a 6x2x18 and a 2x2x18 on each shelf (or possibly a 5x2x18 and a 3x2x18). I've got a bit of wasted space in there, so I'd build stands to the room, not build the room to accommodate existing stands.
rosco
Very Nice Andy well done. I'm sure you could have fitted another 40 tanks in there too Craig that would be a minimum number Baz cheers rosco

parkap
ViS, I have to admit, I've just had to watch that video again a couple more times. That such a great room you've built. Well done. The pallet racks, they look like industrial strength versions of the old hammerlock shelves you can pick up at Bunnings. Is that essentially what they are? Where did you get yours from? how much do they cost? Also, what do you have the tanks on the pallet racks sitting on? I couldn't tell from the video. Peter. parkap
Hi ViS, Sorry, just another couple of quick questions. What's your roof height? And what's the height of each row of shelves on your pallet racks? Are the tanks on these racks 18" or 2ft high (or something else)? p.
ViS
The pallet racks, they look like industrial strength versions of the old hammerlock shelves you can pick up at Bunnings. Is that essentially what they are? Where did you get yours from? how much do they cost? Also, what do you have the tanks on the pallet racks sitting on? I couldn't tell from the video. Yes they pretty much are. I got mine through Dexion Newcastle. From memory the 9ft, 3 tier rack was $480 and the 5ft, 2 tier rack was $200. They hold 2 tonne per shelf (or is that 2 tonne per beam?) What's your roof height? And what's the height of each row of shelves on your pallet racks? Are the tanks on these racks 18" or 2ft high (or something else)? The roof height on the right side is 2325 and 2225 on the left. I have a 100mm fall on the roof. The highest you can build a shed in my council area without a permit is 2400 and the roof is 75mm thick. I'll list each tank size (LxWxH) starting from the right: Right close top: 6x2x2 Right close centre: 6x2x18 Right close bottom: 4x2x14 Right far top: 6x2x18 Right centre centre : 4x2x18 Right far centre: 4x2x18 Right bottom centre (sump): 4x20x18 Right far bottom: 4x2x14 Left close top: 4x20x18 Left close centre: 4x20x18 Left close bottom (sump): 4x2x18 Left centre top: 4x14x8 Left centre bottom: 4x18x10 Left far top: 6x14x18 Left far bottom (future sump): 4x2x18
