parrdog
Good luck from me too. I think this is one of those projects which you think would be a goer but has the "what if I stuff it up" factor. Can't wait to see the pics, I'm sure they'll be great, Jamie.
WAZ
Better think of stuffing some bean-bags, Andrea. Just thinking of ya neighbours.
anchar
@ WAZ Ok this is how it looks so far. I made individual rock clumps and stuck them all with silicone on to a solid polystyrene sheet (cut to the right size for the tank = 4 x 18 x 18). I've only roughly shaped it thus far as the cement layers will hide any detail. Andrea
couchy
That looks great so far can't wait to see it completed. Cheers Couchy
chrisandelana
Hi Andrea, Looks great. Can I assume that you don't have a bridge at the top of your tank or is your tank as deep as it is wide ? Keep up the good work. Chris
anchar
Hi Chris, I am in the enviable position of being a tank maker..hence I will affix the backing into the tank before I brace it Andrea

tykita
that background looks amazing you might have to start selling tanks with those backgrounds built in to them regards chris
tykita
could you also write down the materials used to make it regards chris
anchar
you might have to start selling tanks with those backgrounds built in to them That is the idea Materials so far: polystyrene silicone sand cement I just used a kitchen knife to shape it. Can't be easier! Andrea
FrontyKing
Wow and wow. Can't wait to see the finished result!
parrdog
Awesome work Andrea. If I was offered a tank professionally done with one of those backgrounds in it I would jump at it. One of the worries with these backgrounds, especially the latex ones is the installation. If it was done professionally and guaranteed the decision would be a no brainer! Great stuff, I can't wait to see the outcome . Jamie.
anchar
Second coat on...starting to take form... Andrea
anchar
Thanks Jamie. The biggest problem I have encountered with the latex ones is the poor fitting, hence stagnent water/trapped fish etc. Hopefully these will not have those problems. This is just a prototype....time will tell Andrea

anchar
Last coat went on today. The background actually looks a lot better than the pics. show The second and third pic show (well as best as possible) the uneven grained sand texture that is on the finish.
