luket
So... anyone know if they will feed on the 100's of malaysian trumpet snails that infest one of my tanks? Even if they don't I'll probably still buy some Cheers
brucem
I don't know, but I don't have any trumpet snails in the tank that houses my trets. My Juli transcriptus gombe will eat snails, including malasian trumpet snails. But if you have a tank full of them, maybe you should invite a school of clown loaches to dinner Bruce
Richard
Hey mate, Mine don't even touch them. Cheers, Richard.
CThompson
Julidochromis regani also eat snails. Have seen them decimate a pond snail population to the point that after introduction I never saw a snail, dead/empty or broken shell/egg raft again in an 900 l tank. Don't know how they will go with Malaysian trumpet snails though.
trofius
They will have a go at them but generally not good at eradicating them. I have only seen them eat smaller snails they can crush, and have occasionally seen them have a go at a bigger one and loose interest very quickly..maybe mine are just too well fed. Seems more people have trets than I thought.
Link2Hell
Trets will eat snails, but only if they can't find anything better, option is get a trio of small clown loaches as they are happiest in groups of 3 or more once the jobs done you can sell them anywhere and the'll be bigger ......... but you will most likely want to keep them Chris
Eddie Salita
As Chris said, trets and sexies will eat them. But they need to be very, or very very hungry. They dont seek them out like a loach. cheers Jason
