PSi4EVA
Hi All, I've been slowly trudging along adding bits and pieces to my tank. Took alot of the plant matter out after a massive die-off in relation to a very long blackout. But lately I've been quite taken using wood in my tank. My question would be, can there be too much wood, and if so, how much is too much? What I would ultimately like to end up with is a dark, kinda rainforesty, amazonian biotype thing, if you follow my drift Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Scott
Gigitt
I don't think that too much wood is a problem. Your tank water will go quite brown from the leeching tanin... depending on your fish it can be quite good for them (Amazonian fish that is). I suppose you are going to/or already have sucking catfish (like bristlenoses) in there to keep the wood clean and stop it from just rotting away and looking dirty. I like the Amazonian look. Keep it up.
Ducksta
It will stain your water and can lower hardness. But many fish thrive under those conditions, like Amazonian fish, so if its an Amazon biotype your after, plenty of wood is fine.

Cannula
Just remember that wood can increase acidity over time, so watch the pH.
nels87_o_O
I don't know about you guys but from my experience, BNs are a no no! They LOVE the wood so much that they just suck on it all day and crapping a whole bunch. You'll see your gravel covered in BNs craP in no time (overnight)! CThompson
All depends on the fish you keep. Do some research on their requirements, pH, hardness. For example, if you kept discus, I think they would love it. Match your fish to your water conditions, and these will be dictated by the wood.
