Cobalt blue question

Hi Guys -

I noticed some longer-than-normal-for-a-zebra ventral fins on a cobalt blue at a friends place yesterday.

Can someone tell me if this species does indeed have longer ventral fins than other "zebra" types?

Hi YeW,

I had a colony of 16 and have just referred to some photos of them. As far as I can tell the finnage is comparable with others classed in the "zebra" group.

Was it just the one cobalt or were there others that exhibited this?

The fish are mine. They came from a reputable breeder, and it is just the males which display the longer fins.

I keep a few other zebra species and they do not have these long fins. Can anyone shed some light please?

I have a colony of around 20 cobalts and the males (mainly the more dominant ones) do seem to have quite large and long ventral fins compared to to other zebras I have kept.

Others I have kept are puulu points, saulosi, and lombardoi.

The females in the colony seem to have "normal" length ventral finnage.

I dont thinkit is anything to worry about.

Cheers

Zam
