Ben
Hi all,I'm trying to stick to my "one tank resolution" which has already grown to two. My main tank has a colony of Tropheus and a colony of yellows in it and the yellows just don't stop breeding. I am currently stripping 7 females every 6 weeks and the second tank (a 2x18x18) is overstocked. Currently I would have 60ish x 3.5-4cm fry in the tank, another 60ish x 2cm fry in a fry saver and another 60 x 1cm fry in another fry saver. So as you can see I need to shift some fish (at least the 60 x 3.5-4cm ones). What I am looking for is someone who is in a position to take bulk quantities of fry and sell them off. Being in Newcastle I just don't have the ability to sell them locally. Even the LFS doesn't want that many fish. My preference would be to shift them locally but I can accommodate Central Coast or Sydney but the more I have to travel with them the more I need to recover per fish.If there is anyone who might be in a position to assist shoot me a PM and we can discuss further. If you have any other ideas, apart from setting up a bank of tanks or at least a 4 footer then please feel free to share. The fry are from quality parents as pictured below.CheersBen
intangcity
let them spit the fry instead of stripping.u may need to ship and advertise in other states if u cant sell them or organise with say 4 shops in sydney to take 20 ea or so then do 1 trip to all shops and drop off
Ducksta
They are great quality fish!!10 fish per week doesn't sound like a lot to me for a shop to move.I guess the biggest problem is finding a shop that will take 60 rather than lots of 20 as required, and who doesn't already have a solid supply...You might just have to get on the blower and ask around.I'd start with the sponsors of ACE and NSWCS, as I would assume they have the most interest in maintaining some stocks of good quality cichlids.Definitely offer to email them some photos (or point them here) because they will help greatly. I sold my leleupi for the same reasons. Thanks for the tips tho. They are great quality fish!!10 fish per week doesn't sound like a lot to me for a shop to move.I guess the biggest problem is finding a shop that will take 60 rather than lots of 20 as required, and who doesn't already have a solid supply...You might just have to get on the blower and ask around.I'd start with the sponsors of ACE and NSWCS, as I would assume they have the most interest in maintaining some stocks of good quality cichlids.Definitely offer to email them some photos (or point them here) because they will help greatly.Hey Ducky,You would think 10 wasn't a big ask but cichlids don't shift up here. It's marine and tropical's that sell. Mind you the price they have on their cichlids has a lot to do with it.I might have to go back to the days where I dove to Sydney every 6 weeks or so to sell fish, the trouble is I only have yellows to offer now day.I did put an ad on Gumtree last night and have 2 people wanting 10 each already so might be able to shift them this way. Fingers crossed.CheersBen

rosco
Nice quality fish Ben. I wish I could take them off your hands I am always getting asked down here for quality yellows from people and the few lfs's down here. Now I have other priorities now as well. I do plan to keep one breeding rack going with yellows with maybe one or two species going probably good old afra cobue and bn I have had for years.CheersRosco

Tempting, yes. Will I, maybe!I still have the racks for the 6x2x2's in the garage, best size grow out tank I ever had.
Ducksta
It definitely does sound like more tanks to make the delivery fuel worthwhile is the answer.
