moosedagoose
i have a white calvus with half of its face black, been told it was a bacterial infection that destroyed some of the nervous system, also have heard it may be caused by a stroke, dont really know to be honest. Take the shell or what they are breeding and put the whole thing into a fry saver, or empty it into a fry saver. If they have spawned into a rock crevis or such you may have to suck them out. cichlid meltdown
i find best for the calvus is those shells that look like barnacles all clumped together cant remember the name but as long as the male cant get inside.so the hole should be just big enuff for the female.and if u know the shells im talking about stand them up 2 or 3 of those in a tank no substrate keep it really clean they should breed better and you should get more fry then 6 or so
cichlid.lover
Is this a sign of breeding???Ok the female is always trying to get infront of the male and bending it's body and trying to to lead it to its shell but the male doesn't really seem interested
aymenz
yep mate these are breeding signs she is try to escort the male, eventually he'll respond but they may not be successful in raising the fry the 1st couple of times, especially if there are other fish in the tank... so be patient with them... also what meltdown mentioned about the barnicales, they are the best choice...Good luck.
