GundamCichlid
Not a happy day My peps have their first spawn after moving and found out most of the fry were death in the side drop filter has anyone use sidedrop for the BN??? Should i just change to sponge filter again??? My sidedrop has 3 layer 1. white wool 2. black sponge 3. Matrix in the bag below the matrix bag is eggcrate to have a gap with the bottom glass all the fry has their egg broken as they are trying to push their way from the white wool to the black sponge Any idea? Will post picture shortly Thanks in advance
JPM1976
I go tone of these tanks with built in side drop filter and when i moved fry of any kind they seem to get underneath where there was a gap in the glass or jump over the top and get caught in the wool and i had plenty of deaths i would never use one of these again. dogboy
sorry to hear about losing the fry, really sucks especially your first batch. i was thinking about moving my bn's to a dropside tank, i was going to put a piece of filter foam over the gap between the glass sheets so the fry couldnt get sucked up between them and into the fiter proper. GundamCichlid
if we put the foam between the glass, all the waste will stuck and the filter will clog up and slow down the turnover, isn't? Still confuse.............
dogboy
i was going to put it so the water goes through the foam then up the gap between the glass, shouldnt restrict flow too much if you keep it clean , think of it as a pre filter. i will make it and post a photo tomorrow ( if i remember)
JPM1976
I actually cut up some sponge and put it between it works , but u need to clean it every few days when it gets full of crap.
dogboy
try this: it isnt going to slow down water movement much, will stop bn fry and is easy to remove and clean
