Matty
You don't need a big expensive camera to take good photo's. That's why you hear the phrase "It's not how big it is that matters, it's how you use it" Here is a thread of mine from 4 years ago when I was using a crappy 4Mp point and shoot. I still think the pictures are of a decent quality. Point and shoot camera pics

Robbo2232
how about a "amature" photo comp or even a comp not for the quailty of shot but for the quailty of the fish in it. just a thought.
Joel
Dont be put off guys. Enigma has amazing photographs to say the least. But there is a different winner each month if I remember correctly... I wouldnt mind having a crack at it. Wont be able to enter a photo in June if it is setup by then however. Cheers Joel

Ged
There are two ways to do this. Either have categories or not to have them. There are advantages and disadvantages for both. Categories allow people the opportunity to photograph different subject matter. If they don't have anything in that category then the incentive is to go out to a friends place or LFS to find it. The alternative is to have no categories and people are really end up taking species shots. What do others think? Gerard
yellow
Tropheus lol i liked your other ideas trofius but i just dont think there'd be enough people keeping tropheus to enter it; the support base just isnt there if you know what i mean. Categories allow people the opportunity to photograph different subject matter. If they don't have anything in that category then the incentive is to go out to a friends place or LFS to find it. i think id come up with an answer to the chicken vs the egg question before i did this one ged. its a toughy, but if i had to choose id go catergories; there are downsides to it but it also means theres always a variety and it leaves the fields open to some of the less experienced picture snappers becasue alot of the more experienced just dont bother if they dont have it; i dont any way. not saying that im experienced or i am? i dont even know its just too deep. anyway, ill leave up to the powers that be that run this site; theyre all knowing, arent they? please say yes otherwise the beliefs that ive held during my time spent here will be ruined i also think we should ban enigma. yes i know its harsh but i cant beat him fairly so im going to have low blow him. im sorry, its just my nature. j/k unless of course everyone agrees, in which case im not. enigma its your own fault, you know that dont you. if you werent sooooo good, i, and others wouldnt feel the need to ostracize you. i will offer an olive branch though, if you send me your pics that you want to enter, ill enter them under my name and win for you. im not going to lie, i will take all of the credit for them, and probably even say that im a much better photographer then you, and that you havent entered because youre afraid of my skill, but at least youll be a part of it. on a more serious note, im not fussed on prizes, i just want to have fun and enter. Hence the lol at the end, I realise this, There is tropheus specific forum for All us that are perverted that ways... So who decides what happens? Banning Enigma is a bit rough, i always liked to see his awsome shots, and other excellant efforts. If there are no prizes there is less animosity. He can enter he can have the best pic, it will be acknowledged, as such, but the second prize getter will allways be someone different I recon..
