If anyone has any idea re: identity of these critters I'd love to hear it:

Fly (a Tachinid?). Assuming it's a tachinid these are parasitoids on other insects.

?? A beetle?

Some kind of dragonfly (it's lunch)

Thanks Josh :). I've been told by a few people now that the fly isnt a tachinid. While it doesn't parasitise other insects, it is apparently a snail parasite. Thanks for the name! I can also confirm that the insect being eaten by the dragonfly is a fly. You cant see it too well in this shot, but I've got others where the fly is a better position (for ID, not for the fly!).

Very nice photos! We have so many cicadas around the place at the moment - it's lovely to see what they look like close up!

The Yellow Monday looks like she's all made up for a night out on the town - mascara, rosy checks and a big smile! Lovely frock as well :)
