Chester Posted February 9, 2004 Share Posted February 9, 2004 I think the worse thing about this disease is that people are inadvertantly selecting the fish that are most likely to have the disease when they are creating a colony. People would pick the largest fish and several of the smallest fish from the batch of juveniles to ensure that they get a male and multiple females. But it is more likely that the smaller fish that are thought to be female could just be showing one of the first signs of wasting disease. Stunted growth!!! This is why I suggested doing a pre-diagnostic (precautionary) treatment every 3 months or so. This would ensure that the flagyl is ingested before they lose interest in food .
