Beardie
Im thinking of adding some salt to my tank (filled with Africans) when i do my water changes. I've done some reading and some say 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon or 1 teaspoon per 3.8L. I thought i might do this because i've seen a few of my fish "rub" against the substrate like their scratching something and i heard that might be due to parasites and therefore use salt to solve the problem. Any ideas/experiences would be great.

Kazaf
I had that before Hieu, use Sterazin. Though there are some bad things about it, but my fish doesnt scrape on surfaces anymore. Its a medacine that helps fish that has gill fluke and fish that flicks and scrape.
YeW
Hi -Table/Rock or sea salt are fine in conjunction with an calcium carbonate substrate (ie: shell grit or crushed marble).Add it at the rate of 1tsp/10L.Alternatively there is a recipe for a Tang/Malawi Rift Lake salt in the forum FAQ.HTH -

herefishiefishie
I do the 1 teaspoon pre litre too,on Africans & americans. to start up.Add the same ratio when doing water changes,(1 teaspoon per litre of new water only) as water evaporates & salt does not.Cheers & Merry Xmas,Frenchy :^:
