Hi All

I have had a reply from Ad to this question

Hi Ad
we have a couple of problems with Ps. saulousi that have popped up in
Australia over the past 6 months but I feel have been building longer
Ps. saulousi appear to have a contamination problem with what appears
to possibly be M. interruptus or Ps. msobo
there are 2 problems but I feel they could have the same beginning
I have attached some pics of the fish
ones labeled P s 001-007 are what have been traded as Ps. saulousi
both through the New South Wales Cichlid Society and in some LFS and
the problem hasn’t been highlighted till the males have started to change
colour these are the fish already posted here by Jason
the ones labeled P s new 001 – 002 are suppose to be new locale varient
that were purchased as F1 from wild caught these are pics sent from Newcastle
can you have a look and give your opinion please
I just want to add that it would be extremely unlikely Australia would have
something that new it hadn't been documented somewhere else in the world
and his reply was

You are right, both of these don't look right and it looks like a female

Ps. interruptus was crossed with a male Ps. saulosi. The narrowing of

the vertical bars on the male is something typical of interruptus; also the

light blue markings behind the eye. I think it is fair to say that these are

hybrids and not a "new" locality of which I haven't yet heard of.
Enjoy your cichlids!
