bishop
Most of the rock in my African tank is sandstone and have had no problems. I don't think it has any affect on water chemistry (at least Sydney sandstone doesn't). It is, however, important to use hard sandstone as some is very brittle and won't last long in water. Lepperfish
Cool, so when i get some, I have to be specific and make sure its hard.. Does the soft stuff just break down after a while?
Colfish
yeh, sandstone is ok. try to pick out pieces that are fine grained not coarse and crumbly. if ya really lucky, you might find some with quartz viens or other hard rocks imbeded in it. it makes no difference to water paremeters. it will slowly break down over time, and may give the water a slight colour tinge for a short time. cheers;Colin
Lepperfish
How you mean will give the water a colour tinge for a short time? You mean when it first goes in or when it starts to break down? Should it be scrubbed and soaked and if soaked for how long?
