m0oks
Hey guys! What would be better gravel or sand in an Oscar tank? I can't decide on what to put in
Ducksta
Generally, in an oscar tank, your going to have ALOT of waste, and really powerful filtration. So that IMO limits sands usefulness as it will rip apart impellors and such.
sicj
Well if it is a display tank then you would want it to look nice so probably gravel maybe put less gravel and have a good filteration system so that your tank stays clean along with regular water changes you should be fine. Exiledonmainstreet
Hi there. It's been my experience that as previously mentioned, due to the waste produced gravel is generally preferred over sand. It makes for easier cleaning, and you will be able to siphon the waste out easier, without losing so much substrate in the process, as with sand. Good luck Paul
jaz1986
IMO, gravel anyday.... if not only thinking of the filters... you would also have the issue that oscars can move pretty fast... and can thus stir up the sand well enough to make the water murky the strong filters required may also stir up the sand cheers, Jared
Lepperfish
Will oscars attack you when putting your hands into the tank ?
