Catching fish

Ok, so here's possibly a silly question but one I'm going to ask anyway

How do you all net your fish in an easy way? I have a huge piece of holey rock and other stuff that is a real pain to take out of my tank any time I need to net mine.

Unfortunately, catching fish can be nearly impossible when there is structure for them to hide in. It is much easier to remove it all when you are catching fish.

Chase the fish you are trying to catch into a corner and try and scoop it/them up from the bottom, and try not leave much room between your net and the glass, as fish can be tricky buggers and slip through these.

Also, you can try turning the light off for a while and then turn it on and quickly try to catch them, as they can be slow to react sometimes.

+1 on the lights out trick. Will have to be to total darkness for a couple of hours then be quick before they wake up!

2 appropriately sized nets.
Should be able to catch most fish without disturbing décor too much if you can manoeuvre with both hands.

Can be hard with africans as they require caves and hiding spots. I find the most annoying thing is actually the cross braces on big tanks getting in the way. But i do the two net trick if im in a hurry but prefer the darkness method.

I like to feed them causing them to school near the surface and then swoop with the net.

Thanks everyone. I wanted to vent sex them all so just ended up moving the holey rock to one side and using one of the lids to section it off. Job done

I like to catch 'em with rod & reel.

Especially the big 1s.

Get rid of the holey rocks. Get some ceramic fake caves or pots. Easy as to catch fish and clean tank.
