the_fuzz
Hey Guys, I'm thinking about painting my dorso stand pipe as my background is black and the PVC is white - is there a way I can do this and not kill my fishy friends?

No, not really. But you can get some aquarium safe silicone, (Shelleys have one), and squeeze it all over the stand pipe. Then roll it in black pebbles to try and make it look more natural
dogboy
or try a cement render with black oxide. i find it lasts longer than silicone. seal the render with clear pondtite. heres some i did for a display tank.
dogboy
or use black poly pipe - the stuff you use for plumbing and irrigation i think there are potable grades available which should be fish safe

fishdance
You can dye white PVC pipes effectively. http://www.ritdye.com/ from Spotlight has a fair colour range and good results, especially if the rinse solution is hot.
