Batty
Is it feasable to repair a tank with cracked glass and if so how do I do it? Is it a case of using aquarium sealant to glue more glass over the crack or is it more difficult than this. Cheers Steve
dogboy
it depends on the crack and which bit of glass it is. you may be able to patch it or may have to remove and replace whole piece glass.
Batty
I am thinking maybe pick up a broken tank and fix it up, not a show tank but a breeder or growing on tank.
dogboy
Glass , like aquariums, is more expensive in Adelaide than the eastern states, there are no glass manufacturers here so it's all trucked in. if its a free tank then worth replacing a piece of glass, if you have to buy the broken tank it may not be economical to fix it unless its just a patch or one of the end pieces. any probems let me know, i have fixed up a few tanks over the years, and can probably help if you need some advise. Batty
Thanks Dogboy, I just managed to pick up a non-leaky 4 footer for a slab of Heiniken, but it's good for future reference
dobbin4
If its the bottom its easy, Just cover complete area with glass or I've used polycarbonate and seal. Cracks in back , side or front are more risky but in smaller tanks OK. Hope helps
