miss
Hi everyone. I have had my paradise fish ( peepeopie) for over a year now. I don't know his sex but am presuming he is a male. he is a very excitable fish, comes to the glass for his crickets, jumps through a hoop out of the water (plastic tubing) for his blood worm, plays with frozen peas etc. Anyway I bought him a confirmed female the other day. left her in the bag for a good 30 mins in his tank, within about 30 seconds he started colouring up and she started developing intense banding along her body they were swimming around and flirting the whole time. so I though I may have been right in guessing that my original was a male. anyway I have now noticed that she is seriously dominant of him, every time she swims towards him he turns on his side and moves away very slowly, all the while on his side.... is this normal or could my boy possibly be a girl? Rod54
A male paradise will have long extensions to top and bottom of his tail.... Mature males are bigger than females If they are both have the same tail shape then they are the same sex.... Girls are fairly rare because only males are supposed to be imported Who confirmed the New one as a female? She may be ready to breed but he isn't? Does he move away with fins extended or clamped shut? Feed blood worms and live black worms to get them in spawning condition Photo's will Help! Link2Hell
like Betta's seperate the female from the male till he has made the bubble nest I used a large glass tumbler, then slowly release her into the tank so as not to damage the bubble nest, spawning should take place within 48 hrs then remove the female as they can get nasty with each other in a smallish tank together what size is the tank ? condition the fish prior to spawning females aren't an allowable import but they do get through sometimes good luck
