raz7au
I have some f1 mpimbwe frontosa that i am moving in to a 6x2x2 tank. I would like to know peoples opinion on coloured substrate, What colour do you think will bring out the best colour in these fish. I am a fan of black substrate, Brings out the dark blue, What are others opinions are preferences. Thanks in advance Rey

tootie
In my 4 x 2 x 2, I used a mixture of fine coral sand and black sand. It looks good. It's a personal taste so go with what you like best. Worse case scenario you can change it if you don't like it.

The dark pea gravel does infact look best with the Cyphotilapias in my opinion, as it tends to highlight the lighter marking and blue in the finnage etc. A little tip is that if you want to prevent your Chyphotilapia from hiding away in the back corners and dark regions of your tank, add the lighter coloured gravel to these areas. This seems to [from my experience] force them out back into those sections of substrate that are dark. HTH Cheers
