smurf
Can anyone identify what type of peacock cichlid this is? He was bought from an aquarium shop as a "blue peacock" & is around 4 inches long (and still growing).

aussiem
This fish looks very much like a crossbreed to me.I can not understand why LFS sell peacocks as blue yellow and the likes as there are certainly more than one species of each colour. Always buy with the full name
mcsx
yeh sadly with peacocks its hard to get any that are pure breed.
KIMO
Nice looking fish non-the-less. Great for a display tank.
jonnytw
Id say a hybrid, looks like a Hueseri but they dont have a yellow stripe on the top of their dorsal fin, its normally white.
smurf
Could he possibly be a Lwanda?
KIMO
Maybe a Lwanda cross..... I've got a German bred Lwanda and he is very simliar although this fish is lacking the yellow blaze through the shoulder and flanks which my guy has. ......still a really nice fish though. smurf
Thanks. He's in our display tank & I love his colouring. Such as shame that he is so aggressive towards other peacocks as I wouldn't mind getting a male Lwanda or something similar looking to him to add a bit more colour to the tank (he's in with our frontosa colony).
