oz_gooner
I have just got a heap of large second hand lava rock and want to make sure I don't bring any unwanted nasties into my tanks. What is the best way of killing anything that might be on them? The rocks have been out of water for over a month now. Would there be any thing left on them? Cheers Rob
dazza
If its small enough you could heat in the oven for awhile. Alternately you could do a bleech bath for a day, rince off and soak in water a couple more days.
oz_gooner
The pieces are big and heaps of them so the oven is out. Looks like a bath is the only option. Thanks rob
Aquaholic
soak them in bleach, or use a blowtorch heat gun on them
mcloughlin2
Put them out in the sun for a few days to completely dry out. IF that doesn't kill them the UV light will. Once that is done just give it a rinse under boiling water to remove any dust etc.
CThompson
They've been out of water for a month. Unless you have some particular reason for concern I belive they will be okay as is. Just give them a rinse. Craig
