pupz
okay as the title suggests my uncle said that my fish food hikari gold has steriods hormones wateva to make colour come out. i know there is colour enhancer inside this food but he reckons that once i stop feeding them these pellets they will lose their colour unless i continue with this feeding. is this true? or are these hikari gold just the same as normal foods. Ducksta
No, there are no hormones used in Hikari foods. If you stop using the food, some fish may lose some colour if they stop recieving vital elements which are present in the Hikari and not in the cheaper foods. OziOscar
The colour enhancing agent is usually carotene and the like, so it's not a hormone...unlike another brand... Have a look on the pack - it probably also includes shrimp meal which is a colour enhancing agent too (it's orangey coloured in the 'raw' state). Cheers - OziOscar. Callatya
The colour enhancer is something like the stuff out of shrimp shells and a bit of super duper algae as far as i can remember... Its late, dont quote me on this I read all my Hikari labels as i had problems with some fish coming off a hormone food...Hikari is hormone free
