aymenz Posted January 30, 2004 Share Posted January 30, 2004 hey guys i have a the above canister and it's running on a std 3 foot..... is it enough filtration for the tank.... and will it cleans it... ?????? the fish i have in there are.... 2 N. leleupis 2 N.brichardis 6 J.transciptus Gombe 2 C.frontosas 4 Bristlenoses...... and one more question..... i'm using crushed marble as a subtrate.... but it's turning into brown color.... does anyone have any idea about this ???? and why is it happening ????? thx in adv cheers aymen c ya Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
oracle Posted January 30, 2004 Share Posted January 30, 2004 Regardless of how efficient your filter is, you still need to regularly syphon the gravel. Your gravel is turning brown because of accumulation of dirt and algae growth (depending on how long you leave the light on for). This is why I only use sand in my tanks - which some people say can be worse for trapping faeces or clogging up filters. The choice is yours.
