I think that Tropheops sp. 'chilumba' group can be found in a number of location in the lake. Mphanga Rock is just one of the locations and others include Mdoka, Cherwere, Katale Island, Chitande Island and Chriwa Island as well as Maison Reef. Of the these locations the Mphanga Rock variant IMO is the more attractive.

Hi Gav,

As Ged said, there are a few variants of the chilumba - and they look significantly different.

I have the Mphanga variant but I don't know if there are any other variants in Oz.

Tropheops sp. "Chilumba" (Mphanga) is the full title as far as I can ascertain.

Cheers,

Lee.

Thanks for the help gents. Gav, that's exactly what I have also. The females are a stunning deep orange! thumbup.gif

Anyway, I'm looking for some more to add to my colony. I only managed to get a male and female.

Lee, Gav, if you guys have any for sale, please let me know.

Many thanks.

Cheers

There was a fish going around with the trade name Tropheops sp. "Black" a couple of years ago.

Is this a different subspecies or would the likelyhood be that it was chilumba?

How many different common subs of Tropheops are around at the moment?

Sorry to take this a little offtopic.
