parkesg
Hey I am after an oxygen bottle for bagging fish. I made some inquires with BOC gases but they said they are based in Qld and they have to deliver. Does anybody know a local source where I can get one? Thanks

parkesg
Thanks for the super fast reply. I contacted BOC in Sydney and they asked if I needed Medical oxygen or Medical Air? Are you please able to tell me which one you use? Thanks again.
parkesg
I asked my wife if she would do the research for me and she tells me they are based in Qld!! I think she is trying to deter me from spending even more time with my fish! I need Medical oxygen - just called Auburn Aquarium.
Gav
yup, i use medical oxygen also. you can get the oxygen they use for welding but you never know just how dirty it is. the medical oxygen is guaranteed pure, the other isnt.

emp1re
high concentration of pure oxygen may be toxic
cmfir1
Hi, A good option rather than hire, might be to buy a cheap pony bottle or larger if you need it from ebay, a lot of divers sell such cylinders. I'm not sure on price, but a dive store can do pure oxygen and also mixes for technical diving and might be a cheaper option. ie. as an example link to a pony bottle on ebay A nitrox bottle means it has been scrubbed and can except higher concentrations of oxygen. Hope this helps. With regards, Clinton.
BaZ
I was under the impression that if you owned (or were lucky enough to aquire) a bottle it would be almost impossible to get it refilled? I thought only BOC and the likes could refill with Oxygen and you needed to use/rent one of their bottles for the purpose. I'd like to hear otherwise though, because I might just be one of the lucky ones who is able to aquire one
BlakeyBoyR
I wonder if BOC do C02 aswell? It'd be a damn site cheaper than the C02 canisters sold by aquarium manafacturers.
emp1re
yes BOC do supply CO2. but cylinder is only for hire not for sale . about $99 per year + cost of filling the cylinder full
BlakeyBoyR
Meh, I can buy one for not much more than that. Thanks though Empire!
cmfir1
Here is a response from dive shop on air refill prices: "Air fill X1 $10 Card of 10 $90 Card of 20 $170 20% off the above for club members We do not do enriched air fills at the shop so you need to pre order them Up to 40 % $16.50 Up to 40% inc tank $23 Anything over 40% it depends on the size of the tank. Yours in Great Diving Rachael Letts http://www.abyss.com.au" The % refer to oxygen, so it appears that they are not much cheaper that BOC, however, they will refill your own tank, you don't have hire the tank. As they have to send them out to get filled, there might be larger dive stores that do it themselves and therefore cheaper. Something to consider for those that are interested..... Regards, Clinton.
