the cichlid kid
Just wondering how these fish go on there own? it would be with a few silver dollars, just no other flagtails, would this be okay? Beau.
anchar
Hi Beau, I have wondered this myself about The D. sexfasciatus that I have. It swims around with the clown loaches and doesn't appear to be needing company of its own kind. They are a similar fish to the flagtails...I'm guessing they'd be ok by themselves. merjo

Citypainter
I had 2 kept together. They competed for food and the dominant one killed the other. I think they are fine with other species but they grow huge and are better off without their own kind around.
nick069
they do alright by themselves, i had 4 large ones, the largets being 45cm, biggest i have seen, they can do some damage with thier mouths, the large one would suck the slime coating of my bigger fish, mainly the gars, and cause stress and discolouration, can eventually kill the fish. so i got rid of them. They do chase each other around, but nothing serious. Smaller specimens are fine, though anything around 30cm plus, might harass tankmates. nick!
