Powerhead for AquaOne AR510

Hi all

this is a bit of a long shot but.... a friend recently gave me one of those prefabricated AquaOne tanks, which should make a useful fry growing and even display tank.

The problem is that the powerhead is not working. I tried a Resun powerhead I had lying around it wont fit. The return needs to be up the top of the powerhead and not the bottom. I found a spare on the Boronia website but I don't particularly want to fork out over $60 for a new part. Can anyone suggest an alternative powerhead/pump to power the filter?

Best bet would be to take the return pipe into a shop and fit the powerhead there so you know it works before taking it home.

The AR-380 pwr heads fit no probs only draw back is that they are 400l/h not 500.

Otherwise a pwr filter or air filters work fine till 510 ph turn up.

Thanks for the tips guys. Funny thing is my friend can't be too big on maintainance. I pulled the powerhead apart and cleaned it all out with cotton buds. Seems to work fine now.

I'll be interested to see how this tank goes.

Maintenance does come in handy

Biggest problems with these filters, is when the water level drops too low the motors burn out.

Happens alot with parents that trust their 11 yo to maintain the tank
