Alan
Earlier this week I noticed a year old male defending an upturmed orchid pot in a tank containing a mixture of dwarf cichlids and catfish. A totally accidental and unplanned spawning, as this tank only has 8 F1 males from last years spawn of wild caught P. taeniatus "Dehane", the mother of these and a wild caught female that was too young to breed last Summer. All my F1 females are in another tank waiting thier intended partners.I lifted the pot to find the younger of the wild caught females with a small patch of eggs (guesstimate 50 - 70 ) Though it was not a planned pairing I decided to keep them anyway. 27 of the eggs proved infertile but the remainder hatched yesterday so now with a bit of TLC and a modicum of luck we may have some half wild taeniatus not quite related to the F1's spread around the five collections in SE Qld.Fingers crossedAlan
Daniel
Good to hear you finally got the 'location' name of those wild caughts. There are quite a few of the 'Dahane' variety about, as AI has been selling them for a while.
