Kribbie
Hi guys, I was browsing a website and saw that there this a type of peacock called "Aulonocara rubescens (Albino)"...Does anyone know where I can get this type of peacock? Or, I should ask are they available here in Sydney? This is where I found the profile of this peacock: Albino aulonocara rubescens Cheers, Heidi
ViS
There are plenty of albino eureka reds around which is a better looking albino in my opinion. Can't say I've seen the albino rubescens though.
Kribbie
Oh...ok, thanks Andy for the info. I'll search around and see if I can find it. Thanks, Heidi
Guest Gutty
While Malawi Mayhem might be a good site, they do have some "iffy" info on there. For example, and this may have been corrected by now, they were using the same female pic of a eureka albino as they were for Rubescens albino. Which makes me a bit scepticle. Add to that the fact that the owner is really quite new to cichlids.................as far as i'm aware... Don't get me wrong here, it is a good site, just don't take what is written there as gospel. YeW
I also think the albino Eureka Red's are a better buy. IMHO there is too much mystery surrounding the origins of the "rubescens" peacocks. Much like the "tangerine" peacocks. HTH
Kribbie
Oh..haha, is it because ablino rubescens are "man-made"? I am still looking for some albino Eureka Red, but only have seen the females for sell in LFS and they just wrote "albino peacocks", where are all those males had gone to??? Does anyone know where have some for sell?
YeW
No. Eureka Red's after all are line bred A. jacobfreibergi 'Eureka'. I suspect that some "rubescens" may be interspecies hybrids though.
