kevkoi
Ornate bichir.... nice fish. Haven't seen too many small ornates going around in the last 2years. Mostly large fish changing hands. Cool fish. Predator, but only hunts what it will fit in it's mouth... other wise very peaceful resident. In a species tank, they can be trained to take food from your hand and very responsive fish. What do you want to know about them?
watsonboyd
G'day oh im getting a 6*2*2 soon and was just wondering if i might get something a bit different to cichlids! i have never seen them here so im probably pushing poo up hill! i have seen them over seas and thought to myself i wont some! are they easy to keep and can they be bred in tanks? kevkoi
They are easy to keep, but ornates are harder to breed in tanks than the Senegales bichirs. Ur best bet up in QLD to locate of of these odd-balls is to contact Wetpetz. Last small ones I heard of were offered for about $350ea privately at about 7-10cm in Melbourne sometime last year. They are a tough fish.... with extremely long lifespans. kev
