kevkoi
90% of arowana traded these days around the world are implated with a PIT microchip. This is a tag reference to it's heridatory (as the tag number of the parents can be found out thru reading referencing with the farm that produced it.). 95% of arowana traded today are farm bred stock which are F2 and above from wildcaught stock. This is similar to the Australian Lungfish. 90% of Aussie lungfish traded around the world come microchipped and with a certificate stating it is captive bred and the chip must correspond with the ID number on the cert for your fish to be legal. It's a great way to make sure what u get is what u pay for (that it is authentic) and because many of these fish are on the CITES endangered species list, it stops the trade in wildcaught stock. Microchipping arowana and lungfish are certainly a great way to protect endangered species and encourage the responsible farming of these species to satisfy the aquarium industry. OziOscar
'Chipping is a great idea seeing that they are CITES listed. If the shop wanted to get them back, chances are they are for sale just over the border in JB (Jahor Bahru). Cheers - OziOscar.
