Matty
Hi, I'm still fairly new to cichlids and currently have a pair of Geophagus steindachneri in with a braziliensis, convicts and clown loaches. Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction to find out the ideal water parameters and tank decor for these fish? Should I have more than one female for each male red hump? What substrate do they like the best and what foods should they be eating? Also does anyone know of a good article that shows the breeding process of these fish? Thanks for any advice.Matt
Matty
By the way they are all in a 4x2x2 temporarily and the red humps will get the tank to themselves shortly. Is it a good size tank for a couple of pairs?
YeW
Hi Matty -G. steindachneri come from the rivers of northeast South America (mainly Columbia). It is a extremely adaptable geophagine and tolerates a wide variety of water chems .I'd suggest water around neutral with relatively (compared to true soft water species) low kH and gH.Best of Luck
