Paul_S
Is Reefscape the only Australian company that makes acrylic tanks?http://www.reefscape.com.au/Acrylic_Aquariums.html
Ged
Some impressive tanks. It is worth noting that Reefscape only build large acrylic aquarium tanks, no custom tank under 1000mm high will be estimated.
Paul_S
Thanks Ged, I missed that.My next tank is going to be a 8 footer and I was wondering if an acrylic tank might be cheaper.
dave1800
Paul , recently went through the exercise of trying to buy / build a round corner acrylic tank ,Local builders very expensive , can source from USA or China however as a SINGLE tankespecially under 4ft in size it still worked out much easier / cost effective to buy low ironor "starfire" glass or equivalent . The odd thing is that in USA these GLASS tanks are moreexpensive than there locally produced acrylic tanks and they all want Glass .It seemed easy to fly an acrylic tank in but when you get to the final bottom line was not that easy .There is a way if a group that want acrylic tanks get together and ship them as one unit tokeep the freight cost down . Trust this helps
Paul_S
Thanks Dave. I noticed on USA forums and Youtube that the Yanks pay very little for acrylic tanks. I guess that they have a lot more producers of acrylic tanks that help keeps the price down. There is also a US pet chain that does a $1/gallon tank sale, that means around $60 for a 4'x18"x18" and $160 for a 6x2x2. Lucky Yanks.
firthy13
I have had acrylic tanks before and hated them. They scratch so easily. They are not worth the money. Go for a starfire glass tank.
dave1800
Paul more like USD $ 400 for new solid round corner 4 ft tank from what I found out . Some of the US made acrylics tanks are quite light on thematerial thickness There is however a $$ case for acrylic tanks the larger the Tank Dims .Its just transport cost and agree need to be more careful re scratches .
