aqc
Ok, perhaps more Malawi freaks are on here than other sites. Here is a nice pic showing a crater from the Taeniolenthrinops sp. My dive buddy Steve shows size comparison (2 m+ diam). The crater creator just happend to swim pass at the right time! The fish is at least 30 cm length. It is possibly the first vid shot of this species in its natural habitat...I am working on editing it.... in due time

malawi sand diver
Thats awesome, I read the craters can be as big as 8 foot accross. Look like a big male in the shot aswell.
aqc
Yep, I am taking the shot from one edge of the pit and Steve is on the other side. I did try to capture myself sitting in the pit, but had changed the setting on the camera so it didn't quite work. We weren't expecting to come across these pits, let alone the fish. There is a vid on u-tube land by a Saffa narrator that films the pits, but there were no fish to be seen. They have the full ensamble production equipment and all producing a series on Malawi Cichlids. I'm pretty chuffed with the little GPro and have plenty more to learn to get the best of it for future safaris...
