hi

i came home to find my jack dempsey male on the floor with some of his gills out

he has been there for quite some time

i think my cat got 2 him

i relized that he was on the floor so i put him straight in the tank and i held him up right to get some oxygen

i added some melafix

he is swimming a bit but the is a pice of blood hanging out were he breath

what should i do he is in a 4foot with a female and his fry

The first thing to do is get better lids.

Secondly... wait. There isn't much you can do.

Fish are remarkably resilient though and so long as he has the opportunity (ie: away from other fish who might stress him) he might recover.

hi

i had lids but my cuz needed to borrow them to seperate his tank i will seperate him beacse the female is pushing him around a bit

would the gill part grow back it is not that bad it is only like fine lines of blood

he spat most of them out now there is 1 more

if i seperate him from the fry and put him back will he eat them
