akaomar Posted December 1, 2003 Share Posted December 1, 2003 hi i came home to find my jack dempsey male on the floor with some of his gills out he has been there for quite some time i think my cat got 2 him i relized that he was on the floor so i put him straight in the tank and i held him up right to get some oxygen i added some melafix he is swimming a bit but the is a pice of blood hanging out were he breath what should i do he is in a 4foot with a female and his fry thanks omar Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There isn't much you can do.Fish are remarkably resilient though and so long as he has the opportunity (ie: away from other fish who might stress him) he might recover.
