Cleaning Behaviour in Petricola

scuba

Recommended Posts

I have just noticed that one of my petricola catfish is exhibiting a cleaning behaviour on my male Alto comp. The comp is moving to the petricola's cave then allowing the catfish to move over its body. The comp is extending its fins and allowing the syno to apparently feed off its skin. Has anyone else observed this behaviour?

Iv seen this in docs of ocean fish where the larger fish (groper) gets parasites eaten "removed" by smaller fish (wrasse)

If the groper doesnt get this done 2times a day it would be over run by parasites which will cause Disease

There could be a chance that your fish might be issue with bacteria ? Or itch? Not saying it is could be that it likes a clean ?

Maybe eating the slime coat, the alto seems to be enjoying it though, like he is specifically moving so the petricola can move all over him.

Lol quick film on YouTube ?

And post link!
