mate i got a 4 foot 20" tall tank out the back with 6mm glass, the force on the wall increases with depth, not width of the tank

if you were gonna go without the bracing glass that joins the front and back panels at the top middle then i'd increase the thickness but otherwise 6mm will do

The brace is essential... get thicker glass in the base though! if you go wider in the base get thicker in the base ( less risky when you move it around ) but really it's not the width that matters it's the hight!

you can also google DIY fish tank and you will find formulas for glass thickness

Sorry that was supposed to be brace. The top bracing is 30cm wide most of my other tanks the brace is only half that width.

I am talking about the glass that joins the front to the back in the top centre of the tank.

The tanks are 4X2X15" high not 14" like I originally said.

Hope this helps.
