Tank Re-scaping

Hi Guys,

I'm about to re-do the aquascaping in my tank and I was thinking about going bare bottom.

I was a bit worried about placing the lava rock directly onto the surface of the glass. Currently the rocks are sitting on sand.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Johann

Put a piece of clear Perspex or some black vinyl underneath to protect it

hmm perspex is a good idea, how does it look up against the edges though? is it noticeable?

how thick is the glass, i have a 5x2x2 bare glass with lava rocks and no problems

it's 10mm glass.

10 mm is the same as mine, i guess don't go to crazy with height but 10mm is strong as well could prombly punch it and just hurt my fist, but i have seen someone use a metal rod with a base then drill holes in the rocks and stack them though the holes, looks cool but fair bit of effort, i have also put styrofoam under gravel then large amounts of rocks on top
