Can someone provide a definitive answer/links as to whether or not tangerine peacocks are hybrids ?

They are a man made species, so yes they are technically hybrids.

Generally consider as a cross between Metriaclima estherae and a peacock species. There has been debate on the origin at various stages but are considered a hybrid.

there was at 1 time a variant called a pink peacock which was actually a line breed peacock this fish originated in the newcastle region and was breed by Henry Pinkowski so the tangerine may well be a washed out pink peacock.

With the amount of all these dragons blood and tangerines etc going around I really doubt it.
