rob74
hey there guys. I read a post on another forum about adding sea water to a fresh water tank with frontosa. he was saying by adding 30% gradually over a few weeks through water changes will raise ph up around 9 and maintain a healthy and parasite free tank. has anyone ever tried this? or is it possible? killiguy
Wouldnt it be better to do it with chemicals more natural to the frontosas environment without a whole lot of unnecessary NaCl.Plus with sea water you risk an ammonia spike as all the planktonic larvae die off. I dont have fronties but many other Tangs and I wouldn't be a fan
AzFish
I doubt it will raise the PH that much as the PH of Natural Salt Water is 8.2-8.4. You will also be raising the salinity of the water. Use a commercially available additive, what killiguy says is on the money.
