The Correct Name for the old fashioned Parrot Cichlids?

i dont know if this is the one your looking for but i got a pair and they are

Hypsophrys nicaraguensis, parrot cichlid. from central america.

no worries mate, i got hundreds of 3cm ones, i find them hard to sell, ive advertised them at $2each and havent sold any...i also dont see them around to much thats why i started to breed them.

Im not sure what you are after.

The true parrot cichlid is Hoplarchus psittacus (because it has a head like a parrot (psittacines))

These are large fish from blackwater areas of South America.I dont think they exist in Australia anymore.

The fish common in Aus is Hypsophrys nicaraguensis but this is not the true parrot cichlid,even though a beautiful fish.It comes from Central America

There is also a horrible hybrid flowerhorn type cichlid know as the parrot cichlid
