the cichlid kid
I have a 450l pond i keep and breed guppies in, but i find the guppies a little boring and was after a "centrepiece" fish to keep my attention when looking at the pond. I want something that grows largish but won't eat the guppies. Any suggestions?
gianniz
does this pond have heating? else its going to be cold water. hmm maybe some sort of eel? http://www.bayfish.com.au/category61_1.htm it seems the tandanus catfish is both tropical and cold water, not sure if they will be fast enough to catch and eat guppies. you can also try weatherloaches but they aren't tank busters Myxocyprinus asiaticus (freshwater batfish) can tolerate 16degrees celsius
the cichlid kid
I don't plan on heating the pond, but if I found a fish I was really keen on, I'd consider it. Tandanus catfish isn't quite what I am looking for. The batfish looks awesome but has a few drawbacks, they get too big, they are a schooling fish and by the time they are a year old they aren't a very attractive fish at all. Again, the weather loach is an interesting fish, but I'd prefer something that wasn't a bottom dweller if possible. Any more ideas?
