mbuna man
there are a few l183 also known as white seam. These keep the white seam through adulthood. The other and more common one is the l182
YAL05T
Going by Ingo's new book L181 is also a very good candidate for our peppermint. I am becoming more and more sceptical of what we have as being L183 as from all reports it is a blackwater species of Ancistrus which can be very difficult to breed in mains water and retains the white seam into adulthood. Also the number of soft dorsal rays differs. When I pull apart my big tank I am going to keep them seperate and have a good look at their anatomy in adult form. Either way I still do this alot Cheers, Brett

mcloughlin2
Jonathon, Only certain species of peppermints loose the white seam as they age. Some species retain it throughout their entire life.
homeownage
the closest pictures at planetcatfish is L183 however people think when the fish entered the country it was hybridised earlier on, well something happened as they are not exactly the same as L183 or mabe we have a certain genetic trait in australia
