Metriaclima callainos

Hey, doesn't this forum look great!

anways, just wondering what the minimum tank size for Metriaclima callainos is. I've searched the web, and 50% said around about 330L and the other 50% said about 180L. What would you guys suggest?

3x18x18 absolute minimum for a colony, they grow quite large for an mbuna.

The smaller your tank the smaller you group has to be...tho in saying that you then also come to a possible problem with an increase in agression due the decrease in numbers. Mbuna can be pretty agressive at the best of times and Zebs are usually some of the more agro ones I have kept.

3x18x18 as DWD has suggested would an absolute minimum, IMO, and a 3x2x2 would be a better min-tank size...allows you more room for rock and water.

In a 3x2x2 I would have 1m and 3f. If you can go bigger then you should as they are a pretty large fish, as has been mentioned...and the increase in rocks and water-volume will go some way to combatting any agression you may experience.

1m 3f should be ok in a 3x18 (with pots/caves) Ideally a 4x18x18 or 4x2x2 with 2m and 5f would be the go if your serious about breeding them.
