limegirl
Bought my first male two days ago - what an awesome fish! Popped him in a tank with rainbows, blue eyes, and albino BN fry. He settled in great, and was taking pellets and bloodworms yesterday. This morning he was lying on the floor next to the tank. Now I know they jump ... a lot ... but the tank was covered except for about half an inch at the back where the hang on filters sit. And he was a ten cm fish. There was plant cover and hidey holes in the tank. What do you do? Does anyone have experience in keeping them IN a tank? Also, does anyone have any tips for sealing the gap required by inlet and outlet hoses for both hang on and canister filters? BTW, I will definately be getting more! (must have had empire gudgeons on the mind - already have five of them!)
littleV
cut fly screening that can cover the gap then tape it to the hole, so it covers it up
hoges
Not a nice find for you limegirl! I agree with littlev, I have flyscreen over the corner of my community tank that has gudgeons in it. I lost too many out of what I thought were tiny holes. I find now that when I add a new one to a tank that leaving the lights off for a few days helps as well - less jumping! Good Luck! They're great fish!
