fishbits
Hi everyone...I need help with a daignosis on African Cichlids (lithobate, dimi comps)..All water parameters are fine. All fish are showing signs of some sort of skin condition..Some are showing white raised areas on body and fins, occasionally they turn into an ulcer, treat with medi flex heals up nicley, but returned a short time later. Did a filter change and found worms inside the filter, looked like garden worms but a lot lot smaller. Any ideas on what is going on would be appreciated. All fish are eating well and are generally active and have no signs of a concave stomach, but just keep dying..... Thanks Sean

YeW
Sean - Sorry to hear about your dramas? How hot is the tank? Could the temperatures be exposing the fish to extra stress? Suspect the worms are a result of food/wastes building up in filter... probably nothing to stress about. For now - remove ALL affected fish to a hospital tank. Treat with NaCl (1tsp/5 litres) - and try and get a better diagnosis. There are some vets who may be able to help. Jess (0.5 of griffin) just wrote a useful article on hospital tanks.
