hoges
Hi!!! It was just a common plecco. Though her colours came out clearer in this photo than they looked when she was just swimming around. She was about 1 1/2 years old when she died. Approximately 20 cms in length!!! I really need to replace her - she was such a great algae cleaner

hoges
Hmm, thats intersting. When I purchased him/her the tank had gibbicept $60 on the glass, but when I selected the fish I wanted the sales assistant said he was pretty sure I had chosen a common plecco (his colours were darker and his markings were less defined) He took the fish to the boss lady (well i assumed she was) and she confirmed it was only a plecco and hence only $25. So yeh. The place I got it from has always been extremely accurate and knowledgable in the past, infact they are one of this sites sponsers. Oh well I suppose I got a bargin - shame its not around any more
mianos
Looks like a Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps, otherwise Glyptoperichthys joselimaianus but it looks too light. You say it died at 1.5 years? How did it die?
hoges
I don't know, it was a mystery - there is a post on this forum asking about it. He was all happy when I fed them at night time and I woke up the next morn and he was floating (very bloated - almost 3 times his size) with white foamy stuff around his mouth. It was amazing how fast what ever happened, happened. The only thing that had changed in the tank was a 30% water change the day before
Alan
Definately G gibberceps (dark spos on a lighter back ground). G joselimaianus is the opposite, like a negative gibbie (light spots on a dark back ground) Alan
