raz7au
Hi All, just purchased a 2nd hand tank that has some scratches, as though it has been attacked by a scourer. Any ideas on how i could clean them up. Thanks rey
Tanganyika
I have not tried this but i have read on posts that you can use either tooth paste or a special paste that Jewellers use. Sorry cant remember the name but i am guessing a chat to your nearest jeweller might be worth the time.
spedwards
As far as I've been told these will only work on really fine scratches, if you can run your finger or nail over and feel the scratch there isn't really much you can do. I used toothpaste on one that I had (a very deep one ) and it took the edge off but didn't really make any difference. If you are really worried about it and it's a display tank I would save this one for the garage and buy a new one...

onlyme
You can get the right cutting compound and a proper felt buffer and takes hours and hours. It also costs about 4 times the price of a new tank. Craig.
Samma3l
you can turn the tank around and put the scratched end where it will be least seen
MattR
Someone told me recently hydrochloric acid works, (chloric/flouric, I would have guessed diluted flouric as in toothpaste...flouride??) Not sure in the truth in this if anyone can confirm?
